Located in The Woodlands (just 30 minutes north of Houston), The Woodlands Resort has a beautiful backdrop to work with ~ gorgeous pine trees, lush greens, and unique waterways, you almost forget you are in Texas.
I had actually stayed at the resort for business in the past – and it is a beautiful facility for that – however, it was nice to see how much they offer for families too.
Starting with their Forest Oasis Waterscape – sparkling blue pools, with tons of unique and fun amenities for every age group. The building features a 30-foot, double-helix water slide that my kids played on for hours.
Kids played water basketball, teens had a fun game of water volleyball going and little ones enjoyed the splash pad and zero-entry pool area to play in. You can always judge a pool by the amounts of shouts & squeals going on. This pool was a symphony of fun from the moment we got there, til I had to drag my kids out to eat.
I also loved that there were different sections of the pool that allowed for a more relaxing & quiet atmosphere – if that is what you are looking for. We ventured to the back pool where things were a bit quieter. I would have loved to have stayed on this side for awhile, but I am sure my kids would have destroyed the serene atmosphere. Next time….
The Forest Oasis Waterscape also featured a few ping pong tables, tvs, and a cafe for snacks or a meal. During the summer, this is the place to be, as lots of fun is planned – outdoor movies, s’mores, and games for the family.
The Woodlands Resort has incredible food, as our family enjoyed their breakfast buffet each morning. And we passed by this fun game room, featuring pool, foose ball, and shuffleboard.
As I mentioned previously, the resort features 2 championship golf courses, 21 tennis courts, and a relaxing spa – something for everyone!
We enjoyed our room – with a beautiful balcony overlooking the peaceful, serene area. My kids? They enjoyed the turndown service with chocolates on their pillows. It’s the little things like this that make the stay a special one.
The Woodlands Resort was close enough to venture down into Houston to visit some of the fun sites, such as SpaceCenter Houston, the Houston Zoo, and more. It was a perfect location for a few days this past summer, so I can see how great it would be for a weekend get-a-way with the family!

My cousin got married there, so we spent the night before driving back to Austin. My kids loved that wonderful pool and its slide.

What a gorgeous looking resort! I think I’d have a hard time getting away from the pool 🙂
