For the 6th year, ZACH Theatre has performed a modern version of A Christmas Carol. It has quickly become one of my favorite holiday shows to see in Austin. Here’s more details on A Christmas Carol and why you should get tickets too!
One of my favorite things to do during the Holiday Season to get me in the spirit is to see a Holiday Show. Nothing puts me in the Holiday mood more than to stop all the hustle & bustle that comes in December and get wrapped up in a fantastic play, musical, or concert. A Christmas Carol at ZACH Theatre is the perfect Holiday show to see in Austin.
So many would pass up the offer to see A Christmas Carol. With so many renditions played each year, on TV or even in cartoon, it’s one of those shows you don’t scramble to get tickets for.
Y’all. This show, you do. I mean scramble – order your tickets NOW.
Truth be told, I have seen this production the past 3 years at ZACH. But it was so good, that I really wanted to see it again. You see, ZACH has updated this show in no way I have ever seen before. The tale is the same story – the one with Mr. Scrooge being visited by 3 ghosts on Christmas Eve to show him why he needs to change his ways. All the characters are there – Fizzywig, Tiny Tim.
So what’s so great about this show? They have injected some FUN & MODERN songs into the musical that make you smile and laugh. You don’t expect a 19th Century character to bust out in a rap song & throw money around, but they do. And it fits so perfectly well.
I’m not going to give away all the fun, because that was part of the enjoyment of the show. But what I am going to do is encourage you to plan a date and get your tickets NOW. Two years ago, I took my 12 year old son and he really enjoyed it. I think it’s a great show for the whole family – something that kids will be talking about and remembering beyond the typical Christmas production.
As usual, ZACH Theatre does an amazing job in casting their productions. The actors are incredible, with strong voices and there are several children in the production too. The sets are amazing, and there are lots of special effects in the show that work seamlessly.
Last year, I took my mom, and she kept marveling over how talented each & every person in the cast was. I am always blown away with the talent we have here in Austin. I come from the DFW area and I don’t ever remember being as impressed as I am when I see a performance at ZACH.
The Topfer Theatre is such a great place to see a show in Austin – it’s so intimate that there is not a bad seat in the house. Tickets prices start at $25 and are available online at www.zachtheatre.org
