We went and saw ZACH Theatre’s Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In A Play! in Austin, Texas this past weekend and loved every minute of it. Read our review and see if this play would be a hit with your little ones as well.
We are big time fans of Piggie and Gerald in our house. What I love most about these books is that my seven year old loves reading them to my four year old and they both end up laughing and bonding over each book! The simple, yet hilarious story lines appeal to the tiniest toddlers and the most grown-up first graders. You can watch these beloved books by Mo Willems come alive at the ZACH Theatre through April 30th.
Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In A Play! has it all! Singing, dancing, audience participation, and of course silliness! My kids were cracking up within the first 30 seconds of the play starting and the laughter didn’t stop the whole time. The cool thing about this play is that they incorporate the audience at the end, which is key with little kids who can’t always keep quite or sit still. My four year old said his favorite part was when Gerald broke Piggie’s new toy. My seven year old’s favorite part was when Piggie started talking to the stage manager and asked what page of the script they were on. Running time is about an hour, and there is a 20 minute intermission. This play is best for ages 3 and up.
The show runs on select Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and select Sundays at 2 p.m. through April 30 at ZACH Theatre’s Kleberg Stage. A sensory-friendly performance and sign-interpreted performance will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. Go here for exact dates and times.
Tickets to Elephant and Piggie: We Are In A Play! start at $15 for youth and $20 for adults and are available online, by phone at 512-476-0541 x1, or in person at the ZACH Theatre Box Office.
