My Kind of Town…Chicago’s Willis Tower

June 21, 2011 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love

Now this could only happen to a family like this
And only happen in a town like this
So may I say to each of you most gratefully
As I throw each one of you a kiss
This is…
My Kind of Town…Chicago

Today, it is all about the view of the Windy City..from high in the sky.  1451 feet high to be exact.  Welcome to the view from the Sears Tower….ahem, I mean the Willis Tower.  Did you know they renamed it a few years ago??  To me, it will always be the Sears Tower.                                                                           The Sears Tower was completed in 1974 and held the record for the world’s tallest building for 25 years.   Now, it is still the tallest building the US and the 5th tallest in the world.  But none of that mattered to these kids who were fascinated to see everything from such a height. They could have stood here forever!
Here is the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium.  And to the right of this picture is the Field Museum…all so nice & close together.
And there is a peek at my beloved fountain…
And remember the creepy eyeball?  So big even from this height.
In 2009, four of these glass platforms were added to the Skydeck for those brave enough to venture out on. Of course we did, no fear of heights in this family!
The view was spectacular!
And the kids LOVED it!
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
We purchased the City Pass which gave us admission to 4 museums and the Sears Tower.  It saves you a TON of $$$ if you are planning on doing all the museums.

I did not even look at this. I had my eyes closed and scrolled all the way down. Then I scrolled back up until I came to comments. You can’t make me do it.

So glad I have found your blog. A Chicago roadtrip is on my family travel list. And if I don’t see anything else, I will be happy to see the city from the sky deck!

Welcome
