Last month, we had the opportunity to drive the brand new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica for a week. Here’s all the things we loved about this minivan.
Y’all! Can you believe that back in my pharmaceutical days, I drove a Chrysler Pacifica?? It was the very first “minivan” I ever drove. But truth be told, it looked a lot more like a crossover SUV than a minivan back then. I loved all the space I had, even if I did only have one child at the time. It was a fantastic car to do most anything in – drive to work, carpool to soccer, lead with groceries, or take a long trip.
So when we were asked earlier this summer if we were interested in trying out the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica for a week, I was thrilled to be reunited with this fun car.
My oh my how things change in 10 years!!!
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has SO many bells & whistles to make driving convenient, easy & safe, that I was blown away. Surely you have seen the fun commercials with Jim Gaffigan?? Well, I couldn’t wait to test them all out.
We tried them all and even found more fun features that you are going to love. Check these out!
9 Things You Are Going to Love About the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: Parallel & Perpendicular Park Assist
Let’s start with one of the coolest features – the Parallel & Perpendicular Park Assist. I’ll be honest. I was terrified to try this – give control to a car to park itself? Yep. And it totally works y’all. We were in Downtown Austin trying to park and I decided to give it a whirl. It was amazing how you don’t have to sweat out a parallel parking job anymore. Am I the only one who hates to parallel park? Not anymore, if I drove this every day!

2017 Chrysler Pacifica: USB Ports……everywhere!
This one is for my kids – they were so excited to find USB ports in the back of the seats, they were fighting to sit in the middle chairs. Apparently, my teens like to keep their phones charged at all times????? There are also USB ports in the center console and in the back. They are every where!
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: ParkSense
Most every car comes with a back-up camera these days and I have become very dependent on mine. But the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica takes it a step further. They have what they call “ParkSense: Rear Park Assist with Stop and Cross Path Detection”. I am in love with the overhead view that the Chrysler Pacifica gives you when you are backing up and pulling forward. I really like knowing how much room I have on either side of me and in the front.
And let’s go back to the conversation I was having earlier about parallel parking. Before I let the Pacifica do it for me, I had tried to squeeze into a spot on a busy street. At one point while backing up, the Pacifica abruptly stopped on it’s own as I was getting pretty close to another car. I simply love this technology. Imagine how many bumpers you can save!!
Now watch in the video for the screen I was talking about:

2017 Chrysler Pacifica: Stow & Go Seating
With 2 very tall & lanky teenagers, room is a very big deal in the 3rd row of a vehicle. The Stow & Go Seating feature was really nice as with the simple push of a button, these seats fold down & tilt up to allow easy access to the back seat. And I even sat in the very back and found it to be very roomy.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: One Push Buttons
Most of the modern vehicles these days have automatic folding seats. But even in the car I am driving, you still have to sit there and hold the button down. With the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, I was able to push the button to fold the seats and walk away. Time is precious people, at least for this lady who is always a few minutes behind……
And would you look at all this room???
Even with the seats up, you have a ton of space in the back to store things. Hello to no more groceries rolling around the back!!
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: Hands-Free Door
While the passenger doors slide open on the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, there is one very cool feature that is so very handy for those of us who are constantly trying to carry too much – the Hands-Free Sliding Doors and Liftgate. Take a look at how amazing this feature is. Need I say more?

2017 Chrysler Pacifica: Adaptive Cruise Control
As a road-tripping family, I rely on cruise control quite often. One feature I have tried out in a few of the newer vehicles on the market and really love is the Adaptive Cruise Control. Basically, while in cruise control, the vehicle slows down and speeds up based on the speed detected of the car a certain distance in front of you. I was a little nervous about letting the car take over when you are traveling at a high rate of speed when I first tried it, but once you get used to it, it really is a fantastic feature.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: Panoramic Sunroof
Not necessarily a must have, but the Panoramic Sunroof on the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was a pretty fun feature for the back seat passengers. My teens said it was the closest to driving with the top down in a minivan as they could get. I thought it was pretty awesome to have it open at night to see all the stars.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica: A Vacuum in the Car!!!???
So every parent will appreciate having a vacuum in the car. Cause as much as we try to instill the “no eating in the car” rule, it never happens. I would love to have a quick vacuum to suck up all those goldfish, and raisins, and lost french fries, and dog hair, and soccer field turf, and grass……… you get the picture.
