There are so many Events in Austin this summer!! Get ready to create those summer bucket lists cause I have 25 AMAZING & FUN Things to do in our area:
1. X Games – It’s the first year Austin is hosting the X Games – with lots of sports & music, it’s going to be fun. June 5th-8th
2. Romeo & Juliet by Penfold Theatre – Catch some FREE Shakespeare in the amphitheater up in Round Rock. Thursday, Friday, & Saturdays in June 8:00 pm
3. Austin Symphony Concerts in the Park – Bring your picnic basket and blankets out to enjoy a FREE concert in the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center Terrace. Sundays May 24th – Aug 24th
4. Round Rock Express Game – So many fun things going on up at the Dell Diamond from Kids Days (Sundays) to Dollar Dog Night (Mondays) to Fireworks Fridays. Check out their Full schedule seen here April 3- September 1, 2014
5. Blanton Summer Family Program – The Blanton Museum of Art offers Story Time Tours and Work Labs for children each Wednesday, Thursday & Friday this summer. Admission for children 12 and under is free. June 11 – August 8, 2014
6. Alamo Drafthouse Kids Camp- Daily showings of FREE movies for families. Take a look at the Alamo Drafthouse calendar to find what’s showing near you. June-August 2014
7. Children’s Day Art Park – Each Wednesday morning in June & July, enjoy music, dancing, art, and more. Put on by the Austin Symphony, it is only 50 cents to participate and is one of the highlights of the summer! Wednesdays June 11-July 30 at 9:30 am
8. Bubblepalooza! – A fun day filled with bubbles, music, chalk art, and water fun on the Long Center Terrace. June 14, 2014
9. ERTH’s Dinosaur Zoo LIVE – A life-like theatrical performance of dinosaurs? Sounds fun for any age! At the Dell Hall at the Long Center. June 17 – 23, 2014
10. Austin Mural Photo Scavenger Hunt – Take your next visitors around our wonderful city and Find out more here. anytime
11. Austin Sound & Cinema – What could be more fun than a FREE music concert & movie on the Long Center lawn?? Take a look at the summer schedule of movies here. Set Wednesdays starting June 18 – August 27 at 6 pm
12. Austin Park – This fun family park recently underwent a major renovation and it looks great. It’s a fun day of games, acing, water play, mini golf, and all the pizza you can eat! anytime
13. Check out the New Hawaiian Falls in Pflugerville – Set to open this summer, Hawaiian Falls is bound to be the hottest (or coolest) place in town this summer! all summer
14. Keep Austin Weird Fest – Embrace the motto of our city in a fun day of racing, music, food,and more at the Keep Austin Weird Fest – this event is for the whole family! June 28, 2014
15. Play a Round of Old-School Mini-Golf – Peter Pan Mini Golf takes you back in time with it’s whimsical 18-hole golf courses (two of them!). There’s not to many of them around the Austin area, so this is a fun treat for the kiddos – especially those who have never played mini-golf! anytime
16. “Oklahoma” Zilker Summer Musical – We always look forward to the annual Zilker Summer Musical as we love the shows! These FREE performances are well attended, so make sure you plan appropriately – here are our tips from last year. Thursdays – Sundays July 11 – August 16, 2014 8 – 10 pm
17. Swim at a Water Hole – Why swim at a boring old pool when there are some gorgeous natural swimming holes and springs in the area? Check out Krause Springs, Hamilton Pool, Blue Hole in Wimberley, or Barton Springs. all summer long
18. Peter and the Piper – By mid July we are doing everything we can to stay indoors, so take your kids to see some culture at the Long Center. Pollyanna Theatre Company presents this classic tale. July 13 – 20, 2014
19. Geocaching – One of my families all time favorite things to do, this Free activity is always available. Check out our Geocaching 101 post here to get started. anytime
20. Austin Pet Expo – Bring your pet (dog, cat, bird, lizard) to see all sorts of fun displays, performances, pet adoptions, vaccinations and more! Free Admission at the Palmer Event Center. August 2, 2014
22. 8th Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival – It’s going to be hot in August, so why not cool down with the best treat? FREE Ice Cream plus games, activities, and more. August 9 2014
23. Canopy Challenge at Natural Bridge Caverns – For a unique challenge after a fun morning at the Natural Bridge Caverns, climb up the Canopy Challenge and zip line down! anytime
24. 10th Annual Night of the Bat Fest – Celebrate one of the coolest things we have in Austin – our 2 million Mexican free-tailed bats. Arts & Crafts, Food, Vendors, Music, and a costume contest! August 23, 2013

Awesome list of activities to do in the Summer. I’m going to be in Texas in June but likely only in San Antonio, although Austin is my favorite city in Texas (my uncle used to live there but he moved). I might have to try to sneak away from San Antonio if I can!
