If you are anything like me, by the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, I am too exhausted from all the Christmas festivities to plan something fun. So this year, I have done my homework ahead of time to see what our great city has going on for New Year’s Eve, appropriate for the family of course.
Here are 5 Fun New Year’s Events for Family in Austin:

ANY is an alcohol-free celebration showcasing Austin’s diverse and talented creative community through art, films, and live music. There will be shows appropriate for all ages, as well as workshops and food. The exciting fireworks finale at 10 pm features a traditional Scottish Pipe & Drum band.

Create Your Own Fun!
As there is not much to do that is family friendly on New Year’s Eve here in Austin, why not create your own fun? Pick a fun restaurant as a family and go check out those lights you were unable to get to during the Christmas week. Many listed here are still on through January 1!
Commitment Day
This multi-city event is about starting a movement to commit to a healthier lifestyle. Everyone is invited to participate in this downtown 5K (kids included- free) starting at 10 am on New Year’s Day. It’s a pretty cool event happening nationwide and a great way to kick off 2013!

It’s hard to find family friendly things to do in any city in New Years Eve. So kudos to you for hunting down some good ideas! Happy holidays!

I think it’s always hard to find things for families to do on NYE; the evening revolves so much around imbibing and being crazy. Kudos to you for finding some cool things for people in or visiting Austin to do.
Happy Holidays!
