5 Fun Things You Must Try This Spring in Austin, TX: Franklin BBQ
I have heard for years about the “best BBQ in Texas” at Franklin BBQ. And of course, I have also heard about the crazy, long lines just to get BBQ – like 2+ hour waits. But last month, we had the opportunity to try it, sans lines, for an event. And y’all. It was AMAZING BBQ. It’s absolutely line-worthy. 5 Fun Things You Must Try This Spring in Austin, TX: Austin Water Bikes
There are many fun ways to enjoy Town Lake – kayaking, walks along the new boardwalk, or even a dinner cruise. We tried Austin Water Bikes over Spring Break and for an hour, we cruised the lake on a bike. Easy to maneuver, we burned some calories while getting outside. It was totally fun and even my 5 year old was able to enjoy it. Check out our 7 Tips for Enjoying Austin Water Bikes here.
5 Fun Things You Must Try This Spring in Austin, TX: Cypress Valley Canopy Tours
Head a little outside the city and spend half a day in the trees. We recently spent a day at the Cypress Valley Canopy Tours in Spicewood. We went on a 90 minute zip-lining tour through the trees that included 5 zip lines, 2 suspension bridges and a rappel at the end. This tour is only for ages 10 and up, so we only took the older two. But it made for a really fun family day. Check out our video of the fun we have and find out how you can sleep in a treehouse out here too.
5 Fun Things You Must Try This Spring in Austin, TX: Hill Country Science Mill
So not exactly in Austin, but this science museum is top notch and worth the hour drive out to Johnson City. The Hill Country Science Museum is fantastic – full of complex, hands-on exhibits, perfect for middle & high school aged kids. We took the 5 year old nd he had a great time, so don’t let the age limit you from trying it out. Check out some of the fun exhibits at the Hill Country Science Mill here.
5 Fun Things You Must Try This Spring in Austin, TX: Austin Scavenger Hunt
For my daughter’s 14th birthday, I created a fun way to hit all her favorite spots in Austin. Murals, buildings, and more, the Austin Scavenger Hunt was built for teens but would be fun for anyone. It’s a great way to see lots of fun culture, art, and history in Austin in one afternoon. Check out our whole Austin Scavenger Hunt here.
