While the Carnival Freedom is a great ship for families, it also has a lot of fun spots for adults to relax and enjoy as well. On our recent 7-day Western Caribbean cruise, we found these 9 Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults.
Cruising with a family is great and I always recommend it as a vacation option. We love getting to explore different stops in one trip, the amazing (and never-ending) amount of food, and lastly, the endless list of activities that both adults and children can enjoy.
On our recent 7-day Western Caribbean cruise onboard the Carnival Freedom, we stopped in Cozumel, Mexico, Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay, Jamaica. Beyond the amazing places that were our ports of call, we had 3 days “at sea” to explore and really get to know the Carnival Freedom. My kids always found fun stuff to do each day, so I was left to explore the ship and found some pretty unique and fun activities that I wanted to share with all of you, in case you were thinking about a cruise on the Carnival Freedom.
9 Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Club Serenity
One of my absolute favorite places onboard any Carnival ship is Club Serenity. This adults only (21 and up) sun deck has the best lounge chairs, couches, and hammocks you will find on the ship. You are handed a big, fluffy yellow towel when you enter and there is an immediate hush in the air. No more loud music like you hear on the lido deck, this place is all about relaxation.
On the Carnival Freedom, Club Serenity was located in the front of the ship and had 2 hot tubs that overlooked the front of the ship. Club Serenity had 2 decks, one which had the bar and lounge area and the upper which contained these huge chairs that would comfortably fit a couple and hammocks to nap in.
The Carnival Freedom does have an “adults-only” pool at the back of the ship too.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Gym
If you want to keep your fitness routine going (or even burn off last night’s dinner), the Carnival Freedom has a nice-sized gym with free weights, treadmills, and other workout equipment. They also offer classes and have personal trainers. You must be 18 and older to workout in the gym, so it’s another place I found to be relatively quiet.
The Carnival Freedom also has a on-deck running track that was fairly calm and easy to navigate most mornings. I have to say, it’s a really cool thing to get your run in while looking at the Caribbean.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Sun King Steakhouse
For a special night, make reservations at the Sun King Steakhouse. This upscale dining experience makes for a memorable meal. Tuck the kids away in Camp Ocean, open a bottle of wine and relax over this delicious meal. There is an additional charge of $35 per person but it is well worth the experience.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Spa Carnival
One of my personal favorite things to do on vacation is to relax with a massage. The Carnival Freedom has a gorgeous Spa Carnival that offers services for both men & women – facials, massages, pedicures & manicures, and serval med-spa treatments. They have amazing products too – just walking by, you can smell the amazing aromatherapy they use. Another quiet and relaxing place to be on the ship.
The Spa also has special whirlpools and saunas that are available for you to use during your spa appointments or at other times (for an additional fee). They also have a beauty salon if you want a freshening up or an up-do for formal night.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Casino
Fun was happening each time we walked by the casino. I’m not much of a gambler, but if you enjoy a little blackjack, poker, or even roulette, than you will have fun in the casino. They also offer slot machines and casino game tournaments. Let me tell you, this was quite the happening place onboard!
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Punchliner Comedy Club
Carnival does an amazing job at offering fun entertainment to suit all different tastes, but one of our favorites is the Punchliner Comedy Club. Carnival books some top talent on the ships – we saw Cowboy Bill Martin on the Carnival Freedom – and these guys are hilarious! Now, I have recently said how it was a fun activity for the whole family, and it is. But what’s so great, is they do 2 family shows in the early evening, usher the kids out, and then do 18+ shows (and yes, there are some potty words). And we were all in tears laughing so hard!
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Shopping
I remember being surprised at how good the shopping was on my first cruise! Gone are the days of the dinky souvenir stores, the Carnival Freedom has perfume, makeup, watches, jewelry, and liquor. And they are always offering some pretty spectacular deals.
Last cruise, I dropped my Ray Bans and cracked them. Lucky for me, they had an even better pair (at an even better price) in the onboard shops.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Red Frog Pub
One of our favorite bars onboard the Carnival Magic was the Red Frog Pub. So I was thrilled to see the Carnival Freedom had one too. This is a laid-back, no-worries kind of bar where you can go for an afternoon beer or rum punch and listen to live acoustic music or head to after dinner to play a little corn-hole or dominos. We loved the Key-West feel to the bar and got to know the bartenders well.
Carnival Freedom Activities for Adults: Alchemy Bar
One new bar that I thought was particularly cool was the Alchemy Bar, where your personal “mixologist” can concoct a unique drink for you. We loved watching them use fresh ingredients and mix these amazing, brightly-colored martinis. You can also do a “martini-tasting” to find a new favorite. It’s a pretty cool experience and a unique, new offering on some of the Carnival ships.
These are just a few of the fun Carnival Freedom Activities – there’s also the Piano Bar, the Skybox Bar, a nightclub, art exhibits, and don’t forget to play a game of Bingo. Carnival does an excellent job of providing lots of fun things to do to allow you to be an adult while on vacation too!
But of course, a nice quiet walk along the back of the ship might be all the rejuvenation you might need!
