American Girl Doll fans! No more driving to Dallas or Houston to shop in this exclusive store. The American Girl Doll Store comes to Austin, at least temporarily that is.
The American Girl Doll Store comes to Austin in the Domain at 11410 Century Oaks Terrace and will open in September. The 5,000-square foot store will host a grand opening celebration on September 2, but will only be open until the end of January 2018. Just in time for the Holidays.
For those who don’t know, the American Girl Dolls represent different time periods from the Revolutionary War to the Groovy 60’s and each come with their own book telling their story. They have clothing and accessories for purchase as well. And if you didn’t want a historical doll, you can pick a doll that looks just like your little princess – no joke.
When we lived in Dallas, my daughter loved the American Girl Doll Store in the Galleria. I even hosted a birthday party for her and her doll, Kit Kitterage. There, you could take the dolls into the Doll Hospital to be “cleaned-up or fixed”. They also have a cafe with little doll-sized seats to have tea or lunch with your doll. She went on to own 2 more dolls and she and her friends played with them all the time. I thought the American Girl Doll was a fantastic concept – the dolls are wholesome, well-made, and we have wonderful memories and keepsakes from that time in her life.
Shoppers who attend the grand opening weekend on either Sept. 2 or 3 will receive a free gift and craft. You can also enter for a chance to win a 2017 Girl of the Year collection that has a Gabriela doll, accessories and a plush pet cat toy.
No word yet if the Austin store will have a doll hospital, area for lunch and tea, or will host birthday parties yet.
