As a kid, I always wanted to visit Hershey, Pennsylvania. I heard there was an amusement park built around the chocolate bar theme. And I imagined it was just like Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory with rivers of chocolate to drink from.
Not Quite.
But it is a great amusement park that has 13 roller coasters, tons of fun rides for little ones AND yes, lots of chocolate.
Did you know that Milton Hershey built the park in 1907 as a place for “play & picnic” for his chocolate factory workers? And look at it today!
We checked into Hershey Lodge and was greeted by a giant KitKat!! The themeing of this hotel is super fun – even with Hershey Kisses sheets! I’ll tell you more about his fun stay tomorrow.
We took our time today at the park, resting a lot and letting the little man choose a lot more of the smaller rides. It wasn’t that busy of a day – I think the longest we waited for a ride was 30 minutes and that was their new indoor glow coaster that just opened, the Laff Track.
I am glad we had a day of play but after 3 hardcore days in D.C. and Gettysburg, we were all tired. However, I saw my kids get along the best today – no bickering or whining – maybe it was the adrenaline of the coasters or maybe the reality of the trip has finally sunk in. Whatever it is, this is what I wanted to accomplish. I want the kids to realize what they are seeing and doing together as a family and genuinely enjoy it. I think it’s happening.
