We just spent the last 4 days in Ohio. And let me be perfectly honest with you. I never thought that Ohio could be so lovely, so relaxing, so fun. Why did we plan to spend 4 days on our trip in a state that I didn’t expect much from? Because through this wonderful travel blogging community, we have met many who have shown us what a cool state this was to visit.
So how did we fill our four days?
Day One was in Cleveland. We stayed at the awesome a loft hotel in downtown Cleveland and took our time in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Museum of Science. Both were incredible places to take families. I was most taken with The Beatles exhibit at the Rock Hall. I spent a half hour watching the making of all 13 albums the Beatles recorded. For any Beatles fan, it was incredible to see Ringo’s drums, handwritten lyrics for Lucy, John’s St. Pepper uniform, and much much more. My kids were not impressed.
Day two we toured the Sandusky area – visiting Thomas Edison’s Birthplace – which was fascinating to learn about his life – even the kids agreed! We also walked to the top of the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes, learned about the small town of Milan, OH and toured an aviation museum. It doesn’t sound like much, but at every location, we encountered wonderful people who taught us so much about the area. It was such a great day of learning.
Day three was a FULL day at Cedar Point. Ever since I visited in September for a conference, I promised the kids I would take them. I was so glad to be able to work it into our schedule too. As I expected, they LOVED it. Cedar Point has some of the most creative, inventive roller coasters we have ever been on. If you love roller coasters, you must visit Cedar Point – more on that in an article soon!
Day four we took a trip out to an island on a ferry. Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island is a summer destination for many Ohioans. It was such a beautiful island too. We tooled around all day in a golf cart and discovered the history and the fun of Put-in-Bay. It was great to be on one of the Great Lakes too.
To summarize our four days of fun, here’s a few clips for you:
Only a few days left of our trip. We have mixed feelings about it too. We are sad, yet anxious to get home. It’s been such an incredible trip and we have so many memories already.
