5 Things to Know Before You See Captain America: Civil War

May 6, 2016 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love

Captain America: Civil War is the newest movie from the Marvel : Universe and it’s a good one.  We had a chance to see it this week and it was so jam-packed with good scenes, I can’t wait to see it again. Here are 5 Things to Know Before You See Captain America: Civil War.

I feel like it’s summer already.  When the biggest box office hit of the season come out today, you will to.  And what better way to open the summer season than with the biggest Marvel movie to date, Captain America: Civil War. All the Avengers are back together – including some new ones – Black Panther and Spiderman!?! Yep!

Dare I say it’s the best Marvel movie yet?  I don’t know if it was all the Super Heroes coming together or the really great story line or the emotions that you have personally seeing Captain America & Iron Man not get along – ok, they fight. It’s in the previews….I’m not giving away any spoilers.

Regardless, we were on the edge of our seat for the entire movie. The entire 2 and a half hours….and that is hard to do.

Without giving any of the story line away, beyond what you have seen in the trailers, here are a few things to know before you see it.

It’s cringe worthy
I’ve never been one for all the fight scenes and this one certainly takes the cake with cringe-enducing hits, falls, and punches.  However, when the Avenger come together to fight, it’s an epic battle and was terrific.

It’s funny
Like all the Marvel movies before it, Captain America: Civil War has it’s funny moments. From Tony Stark’s dry wit to Antman’s sarcasm, you will find yourself laughing out-loud in a few different parts.

Is it for kids?
The biggest question I get asked about the Marvel movies is whether I recommend kids see it.  Well, as I always say, you know what your kids can handle better than anyone else. So you need to make that decision. That said, have they seen the other Marvel movies?

This one has a few light cuss words and a lot of punching.  Some ancillary people die, though no scene is very graphic. All 3 of my kids have seen every Marvel film and to them, it’s all about the super hero and rallying with them.

Are You #TeamCap or #TeamIronman?
The marketing for this movie has been a lot of fun.  It’s hard for me to choose which hero my loyalty falls under – I love Ironman’s inventiveness, his humor and his awareness to taking care of the world.  Though Captain America is fiercely loyal, has a commanding presence, and is so handsome (am I picking my sides based on looks? Yes. Don’t judge me.)

Marvel is having fun with this ongoing campaign – make sure to tweet the following to get a fun message back: @CaptainAmerica #TeamCap OR #TeamIronman AND #TweetMe

Guest Stars Galore
It’s no surprise that everyone’s favorite, Antman is back in Captain America: Civil War.  Truthfully, it’s all my 6-year old wanted to see and he actually cheered when he came onscreen for the first time.  If you have liked the Avengers dynamic in the previous movie, get ready for a load-full of fun between them all here too.

Also, here’s a fun fact – Marvel comics creator, Stan Lee, makes a guest appearance in every Marvel movie – the fun is seeing him pop up!
