A few months ago, I was sent a box of Community Coffee to try out. Now, let it be known – I am a Keurig girl for 2 reasons.
- I am the only one who drinks coffee in my house and if I make a whole pot of coffee, I will drink the whole pot of coffee.
- I make a lousy pot of coffee – it’s ALWAYS too weak or too strong.
So, with a box of coffee and some terrible coffee making skills (I know, how hard can it be??) what’s a girl to do?
Make coffee.
So that’s what I did. I experimented with the cups of ground coffee to water ratio until I got it just right. So right, that I wanted to make a pot of coffee every.single.morning. Um, now we are back to reason number 1. I am now drinking a whole pot of coffee every day.
More experimenting.
Because I simply can not drink a whole pot of coffee in one sitting or bear to pour it down the drain, I decided that my 3 pm Happy Hour was now going to include a big glass of iced coffee. YUM.
And that’s exactly what my new 3PM obsession has become. This ice cold pick-me-up is a TREAT! Made exactly as I like my morning cup, with a packet of Splenda and a quick pour (cause who measures anymore?) of Creme Brûlée creamer, it’s enjoyed over ice and I can have a low calorie treat in the afternoon.
Community Coffee Gives Back
So when I told my husband this morning that I was going to write about coffee on the blog today, he arched his eyebrows and said to me “What can you write about coffee?” – he’s not a coffee drinker, he has no idea the depth of coffee love.
Community Coffee is good, but what impressed me more is their philantrophy. Having several family members (and my spouse) who have or are serving in the military, I have such a soft heart to those companies who go out of their way to salute the men & women who protect our country.
Through Community Coffee’s Military Match program, they have shipped over 55,000 pounds of coffee to active duty military members.
Here is how the program works:
STEP 1: BUY 4 – Buy your favorite Military Match Set of four 12 oz., 16 oz., or Single-Serve 18 ct. coffees.
STEP 2: GET 4 FREE – We’ll match your purchase with an additional four items, and send all eight items to the APO/FPO or military base address you provide.
STEP 3: A FREE MUG! – We’ll even include our Signature Military Mug with your shipment.
Find out how you can participate here.
So while I appreciate the coffee they sent me to try, I am much more excited to support Community Coffee’s Military Match program. Don’t get me wrong, they have terrific coffee, I just would rather tell you about their small way they try to make the world a better place….one cup of coffee at a time.
Disclosure: I was sent Community Coffee samples to try. I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
