Friday Daydreamin’: A Commitment-Free Weekend!

May 10, 2013 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love
Happy Friday friends! Time for Friday Daydreamin’!
Join us each Friday by linking up your favorite travel post of the week and I will do my best to see them all over the weekend.  I hope you will take a few minutes and visit some of the link ups too.
I love this link-up party because I get to learn & see so much travel through the eyes of all my fellow travel bloggers.  I have learned so many amazing things and seen some gorgeous pictures thanks to y’all sharing your travels here.  I hope you continue to do so.

Last weekend we took the kids on a quick trip down to South Padre Island.  It’s at the very tip of Texas, real close to Mexico and surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico.  It was the first time we had all visited as a family and it was wonderful!

These kids were spoiled by spending the day at Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark……

And just a few minutes from our hotel room, we had the beach to explore……

And before heading home, we popped up into the only lighthouse in Texas you can go up in……

It was a pretty cool weekend if I do say so myself!  It was the perfect family get away.
This weekend is filled with a concert, football, soccer, and other bits to keep us busy, so I will be daydreaming about being away with no commitments to take care of……
What about you?  Link up your favorite post of the week below.  I’d love to see where you have been!

I love your pictures and review from Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark and Resort. What an awesome picture from the lighthouse too. So glad your family had a great getaway. I hear you on all the activities before the school year ends. Wishing both of us lots of luck! Happy Mother’s Day!

That looks like a great weekend getaway! I had an aunt and uncle who lived in Texas and my uncle was always telling me that I had to come and visit and he’d take me to South Padre Island. He made it sound like paradise! Your photos are the first that I have ever seen of it and it does look incredibly beautiful!!

It sounds like you had a great time last weekend. I love the Gulf of Mexico and admit that I’ve been dreaming about a beach getaway as well. Honestly, at this point, I’m dreaming of any getaway. Maybe soon….

We’ve only been to the Schlitterbahns in New Braunfels and Galveston. It looks like the South Padre one is meets their high standards of fun. When is the Austin one opening? I didn’t know Texas had a lighthouse you can go up. Neat.
