Friday Daydreamin’: My Hearts in West

April 18, 2013 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love
Happy Friday friends! Time for Friday Daydreamin’!
Join us each Friday by linking up your favorite travel post of the week and I will do my best to see them all over the weekend.  I hope you will take a few minutes and visit some of the link ups too.
I love this link-up party because I get to learn & see so much travel through the eyes of all my fellow travel bloggers.  I have learned so many amazing things and seen some gorgeous pictures thanks to y’all sharing your travels here.  I hope you continue to do so.
By now you have heard about the horrific accident in West, Texas.  The stories coming out of this sweet Texas town are heart-breaking.  I wanted to take a moment to tell you more about this wonderful town today.
West, Texas is the half-way point between my home here in Central Texas and my parents home in the DFW area.  It’s the perfect little stop for a potty break.  And I certainly can’t resist buying a kolache or two….or more each time I stop.

The Little Czech Bakery in West, Texas is known Texas-wide (and further, I’m sure) for their amazing baked goods and their friendly faces.  Always greeted with a smile, I love to frequent this business.

A tragedy like this brings Texas together as a family – I have been overwhelmed to see so many giving blood today and setting up donation drives and food deliveries for the West area.  Sometimes, it is so sad to see that it takes an accident of this magnitude to bring us together.  But then again, it’s heartening to see human spirit bonding together to help one another out.
My thoughts and prayers are with the lovely town of West today.  Please think of them for a moment today as well. Thanks.
Feel free to post your favorite travel post of the week below – and visit a few of the posters – give them some comment love as well!

This was so heartbreaking to watch and I’m sure so much more difficulty for a town you’re familiar with. My thoughts and prayers are with West too. Thanks for highlighting this town this week.

I was watching the news coverage of this and it is so heart wrenching to see. Especially so close after the Boston Bombings. We just need to pray for our country and I will include a prayer for those in West, Texas. Thank you for telling me more about that Texas town.

It’s been one tough week for the US. This sort of thing has such an impact on small communities but you’re right about how wonderful it is to see the spirit of giving at work. That’s America at it’s finest.

My prayers are going out to the people of West. I wish I was in Austin right now so that I could do more.

My friend in Texas just posted about this bakery last week. I didn’t realize it was in West, Texas.

I really appreciate you posting about West, and giving us all a little more of a personal touch on the town that we’ve all seen in the news. Sending out extra love for West today…

At first I couldn’t remember what had happened in Texas this week now that even here in Jamaica we’re getting wall to wall coverage of Boston. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and residents of West. Thanks for posting this, Becca.

Good to read some good news about West, Texas.

My wife just told me that she heard about a runner in this week’s Boston Marathon who returned home to West, only to have been witnesses to two fatal explosions in a single week!

My heart and prayers go out to the people of West. I saw the news coverage and just felt sick for the families and town- what a terrible tragedy.

I had a post written to link up and forgot to publish it and was away from home so I’ll save it for next week. 🙂

Sorry to hear about the accident in Texas.

That Czech bakery – are the owners from the Czech Republic?

Welcome
