Austin, Texas is quickly becoming the hippest spot to visit in Texas. Right in the heart of Texas, Austin hosts tech conferences (SXSW Conference), national sporting events (X-Games and F-1 races) and music festivals (ever heard of Austin City Limits?). Austin is a hip town. Everyone is welcome. The atmosphere is laid back and accepting, making it the relaxing weekend you and your girlfriends needed. That said, this is Texas, y’all. So expect friendly hospitality, good-natured people, and lots of great food.

We recommend that you stay near downtown Austin. There are so many of cool & unique restaurants and activities near this area, that we want you to find a hotel that is close by. Some of our personal favorites are the smaller boutique hotels that have tons of charm. The offers suites, studios, and bungalows, perfect for a group. They have a fleet of bikes guests may borrow to explore nearby South Congress Ave. Also in this area, Hotel San Jose offers innovative amenities like a Polaroid camera or a vintage typewriter.
If you are looking for more luxurious accommodations, the overlooks Lady Bird Lake and has an amazing lawn where you can sit sipping drinks while the famous Congress Ave Bridge bats emerge each evening at dusk. Or check out the brand new in the hip Rainey Street Historic District. This boutique hotel offers a rooftop pool & bar and is walking distance to one of the hippest streets in town.
Girlfriends’ Weekend in Austin: Where to Eat in Austin
One thing Austin is known for is GOOD food, so it’s hard to narrow it down to just one weekend. We have such an eclectic variety of choices – from Mexican to good ole’ Texas BBQ. Grab a cup of coffee right on South Congress at Jo’s Coffee or Tom’s Coffee Shop – as in the shoes, you can pick up a pair in this funky house while enjoying your coffee in the garden.
Try a uniquely designed taco at . We personally can’t decide between the Republican or the Democrat. Consistently recommend at the best pizza in Austin, is worth the wait. Located on the funky South Congress, there is some eclectic shopping that can be enjoyed while you are there. Make sure to pick up a few cupcakes from Hey Cupcake’s Airstream trailer too.
One of our favorite spots for a relaxed evening with wine & cheese is . We love the laid back atmosphere as well as the great selection. Both and are our favorites in fine dining. Beyond their delightful and ever-changing menus, the charm and atmosphere is what draws us here. We love the cottage feel to the restaurant, the grassy front lawns that invite you to relax. Also consider the Josephine House for a luxurious brunch.
Girlfriends’ Weekend in Austin: What to Do in Austin
Austin has many activities to offer that will help shape your fun weekend with girls into anything you want it to be. It can be active, full of culture, relaxing, and more.
The newly opened boardwalk of the Lady Bird Lake Trail is the perfect spot for a brisk walk along the water. Or climb to the top of Mount Bonnell for a 360-degree view of Austin. Great views of Lake Austin and Downtown can be seen from here. Or if you are a bit more adventurous, take a dip in Barton Springs, a spring fed pool that is a consistent 68-degrees year round. It’s located at Zilker Park, where you can also rent kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and water bikes to enjoy out of Lady Bird Lake.
If your looking for a bit of culture, start off shopping along South Congress Ave. You are bound to find something unique in , a cool antique store, a new pair of cowboy boots at Allen’s Boots, or something stylish at many of the other Austin boutiques. Make sure to snap a photo at the I Love You So Much or Greetings from Austin Mural located nearby. Lastly, consider visiting the Cathedral of Junk, a 2-story high fixture made completely of people’s junk. It’s fascinating to see this structure in person, you won’t consider much of it junk afterwards.
Austin has a few gorgeous spots to relax at as well. We like both the and The Woodhouse spa located in downtown Austin to treat yourself to a little me time.
