The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Premiere happened this week in Los Angeles with a star-studded purple carpet premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. I had the very special opportunity to be a guest at the “red” carpet event and am thrilled to be able to tell you all about the Guardians of the Galaxy Purple Carpet World Premiere.
There is no experience like walking the red carpet of a movie premiere. It’s fast and exciting and star-studded and elegant. And you try so hard to absorb every single detail as you don’t want to forget the feeling of being at such an amazing event.
On Wednesday night, I had the honor of walking the purple carpet of Marvel Studios’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 World Premiere. And it was such an amazing experience – I want to tell you all about it!
For the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 event, Sunset Blvd in front of the Dolby Theatre was blocked off and a beautiful staging area is set, with a gorgeous purple carpet. The Dolby Theatre is the home of the Academy Awards and is SO BIG! It was so exciting to be able to premiere a movie where the Oscars are held each year. I kept wondering – “who’s seat am I sitting in?”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Red Carpet Premiere: Walking the Purple Carpet
When you are invited to “walk a red carpet”, you really don’t know exactly what that means. And when I was invited for my first red carpet event for The Good Dinosaur, it was so fast-paced and I was so excited to be there, that I just didn’t take the time to really enjoy the moment. Since then, I have had a few other opportunities (Alice Through the Looking Glass and Moana), but it is still a fast-paced, exciting experience.
I had my camera ready to take pictures, but I slowed my pace down, looked around and recognized how surreal of an experience it all was. When we first arrived on the carpet, Sylvester Stallone and his family had just arrived, so they were stopped for photos by all the journalists. And while you can’t easily pick him out of this crowd, he’s there, I promise.
We slowly made our way down the purple carpet, stopping to snap photos with stars who were waiting to walk the step & repeat, as that’s when the talent is photographed. They all look so beautiful and graceful.
As you can see, it’s pretty crowded.
The security does a good job of keeping everyone actually moving along the carpet. There’s very little time to stop and just watch the experience, as they want you to move on down to the theater. But I was able to slow my pace down to catch a few of the stars being interviewed.
And then we found him – Star Lord himself – Chris Pratt with his beautiful wife, Anna Ferris.
I slowed my pace down to a snail’s crawl and was able to get this:
Walking the red carpet of a movie premiere is such an exciting experience. It really moves fast, so you have to be aware of everything happening around you to fully take it all in. What a memorable experience!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Red Carpet Premiere: The Movie
It’s really special to be able to watch a movie in a historic theater such at the Dolby Theatre. So many incredible movies have previewed here. And like I mentioned before, it is THE theater of the Oscars. And to answer my earlier question about my seat, it was just an ordinary theater chair. But I was in the second row of the center section. I spent the whole movie thinking that I was certain that Jennifer Aniston or Denzel Washington sat in them at some time…..
I’m going to take you inside the event….the night began with this HUGE introduction of all the stars of the movie:
This. This my friends was how Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 began for me. I can’t say I’ll EVER have quite a movie experience like this!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Red Carpet Premiere: My Review
Last week, I heard Jimmy Kimmel mention on his show that he had already previewed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and he thought it was better than the first one. Really??? Does that happen these days that a sequel is better than the original???
Unequivocally, YES.
When the first movie came out, audiences were hesitant to try this new cast of Marvel characters. But it ended up being such a box office success, that a sequel was a no brainer. Now that we all know these characters (and love them), Vol 2 is so easy to get right into.
I knew I was going to love Vol 2 just as much as I loved Vol 1. I really don’t want to give away anything that would spoil the movie for you. So I really CAN’T tell you why I liked it so much more than the first. It’s good. It’s well-acted. The music is fun. The special effects are terrific. Everything you can come to expect from a Marvel movie.
But I will say this. Marvel does such a great job of making a movie that is for the whole family. A few year back, I had never seen a Super hero movies. Not a one. It was my husbands job to take the kids to these movies. But it was seeing my kids excitement over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 that won me over. They all wanted to see it again and they convinced me that I would love it. I went into it skeptical but they were right. And I came out of that movie wanting to see all the Marvel movies. So 2 summers ago, we watched them all. In chronological order. Now that was fun.
I love the way that Marvel ties a great human story into their super hero blockbusters. Each one has heart and humor and honestly appeals to such a wide audience that they make for a great family movie. And they did it again with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
Is it appropriate for all ages? Maybe. Maybe not. It’s up to you as the parent to make that decision. Full disclosure, there is adult humor but most of it will go over my 7-year old’s head to begin with. So we will be seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 together as a family. If you enjoyed Vol 1, you will most defiantly enjoy Vol 2.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Red Carpet Premiere: The Soundtrack
Can we talk about the Soundtrack? One of my families’ favorite parts of Vol 1 was the soundtrack – we listened to it for weeks. So we have been hunting down any sneak peeks we can get about the Vol 2 soundtrack. It’s available to download on April 28, but you can get a peek of the songs here.
We were able to get the scoop about how important the soundtrack is to writer/director James Gunn and how he picks the songs for the movies – that interview is coming. But for now, know that the songs fit the scenes and the characters well and really enhance the movie. No doubt your going to want to buy it.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Purple Carpet Premiere was an amazing experience and I feel so blessed to have been a part of the event. The movie is incredible and was the real star of the evening. If you are a fan of Vol 1, trust me – you are going to want to see it. So make a plan next week to find time to take the whole family to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
