When someone’s life is so magical, it can be made into a musical, it’s one you have to go and see. And when Jersey Boys, about singer Frankie Valli’s creation of his hit group, The Four Seasons, comes to Austin later this month, I can’t wait to see it.
Jersey Boys has racked up plenty of awards – 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical, the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, the 2010 Helpmann Award for Best Musical (Australia), and it continues to break box office records on Broadway and across North America.
But more than the awards, it will feature some pretty terrific music.
From the Press Release……
JERSEY BOYS is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This is the true story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sound and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were thirty. The show features all their hits including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Oh What A Night,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Working My Way Back To You.”
