The newest restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom – Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen – recently opened in Adventureland and I got a sneak peek of it while visiting last week.
For all the fans of the classic Jungle Cruise, this restaurant is for you! Ran by Alberta Falls, daughter of the famous explorer (and namesake of the Jungle Cruise waterfall), Dr. Albert Falls, this cantina is set in the early 1930s. Built for hungry guests of the Jungle Cruise, the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen is exquisitely decorated and filled with servers who have just the same wit as the ones who drive the cruise boats.
This is a full-service, sit-down restaurant for lunch and dinner. Most of the Disney dining plans are accepted and reservations are recommended.
There are 3 seating areas – the Crew Mess Hall is the largest. Make sure to check out all the details – the artifacts on the walls and the “upstairs” and the crew bulletin board. The Falls Family Parlor has lots of family treasures on display.
And then there is the “secret” S.E.A. Room – Society of Explorers and Adventurers – filled with this amazing butterfly collection. This is the table you want to sit at!
The menu looks really yummy – I wish we had a chance to try it but we were on a carb-load fix for the half-marathon race we were running the next day. I can guarantee that this restaurant is on my list for my next trip.
The reviews are fantastic – love this one from the Disney Food Blog – and I am happy there is a diverse menu offering for the Magic Kingdom. For more information and to make reservations, click here.
