North Pole Express ~ Grapevine, TX

December 20, 2012 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love
When the kids were smaller and the movie, The Polar Express, had just been released, the coolest thing to do with them over the Holidays was take a ride on the North Pole Express!  The Grapevine Vintage Railroad recreate that magical experience on a real, old-fashioned steam train for the children of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Running each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in December, the North Pole Express is another one of those “can’t-miss” Christmas events in DFW.  Our family has had the privilege of traveling the North Pole Express three times and had a ball each and every time! This is such a memorable experience for all ages – kids, parents, and grandparents have all been seen enjoying the ride.
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad dresses up it’s steam engine holiday style and takes families on a one-hour adventure 3-6 times an afternoon/evening.  Enjoy caroling before you board, a walk through a maze of Christmas trees, and firt-come, first-serve boarding. There is not assigned seats, so get there early and buy your tickets in advance online.
My son’s favorite part is to get his ticket punched – I think it makes the whole experience very real to him.  The conductor is always very sweet, stopping to pose for pictures. A magical story is told over the  intercom, joyful Christmas Songs are played and there is lots of bells jingling, making the whole experience magical.  And before you know it, Jolly Old Saint Nick has arrived in your car……

This is such a cool setting to meet Santa in.  He spends quality time with each of your children, poses for pictures and asks what they would like for Christmas.  Every child is in amazement. As a mom of 2 boys who love trains, this is a special event for them.  But honestly, any child will get a kick out of the North Pole Express.  The excitement of being on a train ride combined with meeting Santa is almost too much!  It is a great opportunity to get some terrific photos as well,  but mostly you will be there creating some incredible family memories.

Tickets for the North Pole Express are $18/person.  Children under 24 months are free and can sit on an adult’s lap.  Don’t forget to wear your favorite Christmas PJs!
