As a traveler, I really enjoy food. I love trying local food – beniets in New Orleans, pizza in New York, Horseshoes in Illinois, the list can go on and on. But as much as I love to eat, the one thing I don’t like to do is have to think about cooking. I don’t enjoying making a menu, shopping for groceries, or preparing a meal. Think what you want of me as a mom, it’s just not fun for me.
Truthfully, I would love to hand this job over to someone else. While I have no one readily volunteering for this job, I do have a substitution that makes for an excellent gift – especially at the holidays.

I had the honor of touring Omaha Steaks headquarters and learning more about this family-owned business back in October. And I was lucky enough to try some of the product Omaha Steaks sells. I was so impressed with the quality of product, the process they undergo to bring that quality to the customers, and with how good everything tasted. All of the questions I had (and have received since my visit) were answered. I want to share those with you, and help you see why Omaha Steaks makes not only a great gift, but an option for your family as well.
Is Omaha Streaks really that good?
I worked in a steakhouse in college and have spent many a night at a steak dinner in my former pharmaceutical sales life, so I know my cuts of meat and I know what good is. Typically, I’m a snob and I only like a filet. Never a sirloin. Until now. I had the juiciest, tenderest (is that a word?) sirloin I have ever had in my life. In fact, I brought some home for my family and with only a little seasoning on the grill, it was easily one of our favorite steaks we have ever cooked.

So does Omaha Steaks only sell steaks?
No! Omaha Steaks has a 50 page catalog of food to choose from. Seafood, pork tenderloin, chicken, bison burgers, hot dogs as well as some of the best cuts of meat you will ever have. Omaha Steaks also has potato dishes, vegetables, and fully-cooked meals (pot roast, meatloaf, and more). And my favorite – the desserts. Omaha Steaks has all kinds of sweets to finish your meal with – brownies, chocolates, and more.

One of my favorite stories I heard on my tour was about these apple tartlets. These apples come from a family apple orchard. They are hand-picked apples that are made into these individual tarts before being sent to Omaha to be packaged and sent out. And they are delicious.

How easy are Omaha Steaks to make?
One reason we do not cook steaks often in our family is a fear of ruining them as we grill them. Omaha Steaks can be defrosted in 20 minutes in cold water and easily thrown on the grill. We lightly seasoned our, but it’s almost unnecessary. They are super easy to prepare and cook.
I’ve only bought Omaha Steaks for a gift. I never thought to buy it for myself.
Yeah, me too. I never thought of Omaha Steaks for myself. I was just online and was able to buy 6 full meals for my family for under $150. That’s better than my local grocery store can do.

Is Omaha Steaks affordable?
Yes. As I mentioned, Omaha Steaks has a variety of items to purchase from steaks to seafood. Personally, I like the packages that Omaha Steaks puts together, such as the ones they have for the Holidays.

Do I only buy Omaha Steaks online?
Omaha Steaks ships all over the US, but some lucky ducks have Omaha Steaks stores near them. And the stores have even better deals that you can find online. Unfortunately, there is not a store in Austin, but I encourage you to see if there is one near you and check it out.
Ok y’all – I sound like Omaha Steaks is the next best thing and that’s simply cause I think it is. I really don’t have any thing to complain about. I would absolutely LOVE to receive this as a holiday gift, I mean who wouldn’t??
