If you were to ask my youngest son what the most exciting thing he was going to see on our 5 week #Austin2Boston road trip this summer, his answer would not be one of the amazing historical sites we have seen, the day on the beach, or some of the fun amusement parks.
It would be Ant-Man.
You see, ever since we found out that we had the unique opportunity to attend a private screening of Ant-Man, with a special introduction by Paul Rudd while in New York City, he has been asking me what day we were going to meet “Ant-Man”. Ever. Single. Day.
Well today was that day. And friends, it was worth all that excitement. Ant-Man did not disappoint.
What is Ant-Man?
My family are big Marvel fans, so we have been excited to see Ant-Man since it was announced. We love the humor that Marvel mixes into their movies, so the adults are laughing though out with all the one-liners, while the kids are enjoying the action.
And with a storyline like Ant-Man’s, we knew it was going to be a hit:

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang AKA “Ant-Man” and brings his everyday charm to the character in an effortless way. He does an amazing job in the film. And before the movie began, we had a short, impromptu interview with him. And y’all, he is just as charming in real life as he appears onscreen!
When asked what made him want to star in a Marvel film, this was Rudd’s answer:
“It kinda came out of left field. I have never worked in this genre before and I was excited to get to play somebody that was kinda different. I jumped at the chance and it was great.”
He tells us how much he enjoyed making Ant-Man. He said it’s nice to have a “shrinking movie”, that is has been a while since we have seen one of those and technology has really improved !
And when asked what is next for Ant-Man, Rudd responds:
“It’s a pretty crazy world to step into. I’m just starting it. I don’t know exactly where it will lead but it is becoming more and more real with each day that passes. People ask what it’s like to be a part of the Marvel universe and I say it’s really cool & fun. But all of a sudden you go to the set of Captain America 3 and seeing Ironman in person or Captain America in person made it real in a completely visceral way. I’ve said it before, I feel a little like Cousin Oliver to the rest of The Brady Bunch.”
Ant-Man is For Families
We found Ant-Man to be a fantastic movie for all 3 of my kids ages – 14, 12, and 6. Mind you, our 6 year old has watched ALL of the Marvel films and LOVES them all. It was a fantastic storyline that was very easy to follow – even if you haven’t watched any other Marvel movie. However, if you are a Marvel fan, watch for all the references to other Marvel heroes.
The stunts were “wow-worthy” and had my kids talking about them long after the movie. And I didn’t feel that there was much violence at all. I’m not one to recommend an age group for a movie – I feel everyone knows their own kids the best – but my 6 year old thought it was great – he laughed and clapped through out the entire movie!
As for my kids?? They thought the whole experience was amazing. And the movie rocked too!
Ant-Man is Out in Theaters Friday, July 17, 2015. It’s another great summer movie to see with the family!
