Pizza Planet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Should You Go?

Pizza Planet at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Do you have a Toy Story nut in the house?  We do and because of that, each & every trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL includes a trip to Pizza Planet.  Pizza Planet is a quick service restaurant that serves, you guessed it, pizza.  It also offers some salads and subs as well as some fun desserts.

We recently had lunch on a hot Thursday in April at Pizza Planet.  This was our 4th time eating at Pizza Planet (three kids who loved the Toy Story franchise) and it probably won’t be our last.  While it’s not our favorite food experience at Walt Disney World, we do feel it is a a good bargain and a fun experience for the kids.

Here our our thoughts on the Pros & Cons of Pizza Planet.

Pros of Pizza Planet

Fun atmosphere: What makes Pizza Planet a totally fun experience for kids? The fact they that actually get to eat in THE Pizza Planet. The restaurant has fantastic theming with little green aliens hanging from the ceiling, Buzz Lightyear looking over the food counter and it’s LOUD – just like the movie’s Pizza Planet.

Lots of seating: The restaurant has 2 stories of seating and a large outdoor section – even at lunch time, we have never had any trouble finding a table.

Games to play: And just like Pizza Planet, the restaurant is filled with arcade games to occupy time.

Decent pizza: Our family likes pizza and we happen to eat it weekly. Pizza Planet’s pizza isn’t bad.  It’s very doughy and the sauce is plentiful.  It’s not the best pizza I’ve ever had and both my kids liked it (14 & 5 years old).

Great salads: I was happy to see that they offered an antipasto salad.  And I know it was mixed to order as I asked for low olives and they delivered. I also liked the fact that each pizza came with a cup of caesar salad.

Great kids meal: The kids meal at Pizza Planet was a great value –  small personal sized pizza, applesauce, cookie, & a drink – $5.49 for ages 9 and up

Fast Service: We visited for lunch on a Thursday and waited maybe 10 minutes to order our food and get it. There was a lot of people, but they had every cash register open and many cast members working the restaurant.

Cons of Pizza Planet

It’s Loud: The restaurant is loud.  So don’t be looking for a quiet respite.  It is nice & cool, so that’s a plus to escape the hot Florida heat.

Meatball sub: We tried the meatball sub.  Unfortunately, the bread was hard but it did have 4 decent sized meatballs that were very tasty.

Pizza Size: The Kids pizza was small for my 5 year old.  He could have eaten the big one, so if you have a big eater, get the larger size.  The larger size was perfect for my 14 year old.

Ask for ice: The drinks are made ahead of time, so the ice gets diluted.  If you like a drink with lots of ice, make sure to ask for a fresh drink.

Clean Tables: It gets busy, so the tables can take a while to get wiped down. We just grabbed our own napkins to do it.

Overall Thoughts on Pizza Planet

Because going to Pizza Planet is an “experience” for our kids, we have gone to Pizza Planet in the past and will continue to go in the future if they still want to go.  Like many other experiences at Walt Disney World, Pizza Planet is a fun one for kids.  And we think the value for what you get is pretty good for a restaurant at Walt Disney World.

If you have kids who know the Toy Story franchise, you must visit this restaurant at least once.

What do you think? Have you been to Pizza Planet? Would you go again?
