Located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, this three story museum is filled with so many exciting, hands-on exhibits, you are going to want to plan a few hours.
I loved their slogan on their website, “Kids Play to Learn and Adults Learn to Play.” So true. Kids don’t realize how much they are learning with the fun things there are to do, such a creating a bubble as big as they are, working at a “bank”, or feeding the ball machine. And I certainly played with my kids!!
Your senses go wild as you step into the museum – especially with the Power Ball Hall right near the front door. This large “machine” funnels balls in various ways to a central location set to dump on whoever is standing there at the right time. My kids seemed to always be standing under it. The entire contraption is run on “kid power” with levers and pulleys and blowers and more. My little one could have played for hours here….but there was so much more.
Like the Hill Country Bubble Ranch:
Who doesn’t like to stand in their own bubble?
The Science City kept my kids occupied “learning” with a Zoom Zone to build your own race car and test it out, a wind tunnel to create a parachute out of ordinary materials and fly it, and a giant pin wall where my kids loved making their hand & face impressions. This circuit center took the kids a few minutes to figure out how to light up and you can see the surprise on her face when they do!
My little one was enamored with this big plane on Runway #9 – insisted on flying us all the way back home.
And if you have little ones, there is a great Tot Spot for young ones up to 36 months. It features a soft Baby Zone, a Sensory Zone, a Music Zone, and a Gross Motor Zone. I was very impressed with how clean everything was in here as well.
