Schoola is an online clothing boutique that sells gently worn clothing and helps raise money for over 20,000 schools across the nation. I was amazed at what a unique & great organization this was. Read on to learn how you can Schoola too.
When I was in High School, I was on the basketball team. I didn’t play that well, in fact, I often joked about how I warmed the bench up nicely for my friends (who were actually really good players!). To me, it wasn’t about playing basketball – seriously folks, I barely knew the rules. It was about being on the team, being a part of that group that worked hard together to achieve a goal. It was about having something productive & healthy to do in my spare time. And it was about boosting my confidence, even if that didn’t necessarily come on the court.
I loved being with my friends on the team and some of my greatest memories of High School are from playing basketball. I think it’s important that kids find a team or activity to be apart of while they are in school. Whatever their niche or passion may be – football, band, art, theatre – it’s an important part of growing up an learning the skills to be a successful & productive member of society. And that’s why I support & encourage all kids in their passions, regardless of their skill.
Why I Schoola
It’s also great to support companies that see the value of extra-curricular activities during adolescent years. Schoola supports local schools by selling quality, gently used clothing online and giving a portion of the sales back to schools. Schoola can be done individually or through a school-wide clothing drive. It’s an easy & fun way to help support these important extra-curricular activities that mean so much to the children.
Schoola was the brain child of Stacey Boyd, a former school teacher and principal, who wanted to find a unique way to help fund the extra-curricular activities like art and music – the ones that usually are the first to get cut when there are budget crunches. She started Schoola in 2012 with one school-wide clothing drive and now the company is up to 100+ employees and supporting over 20,000 schools!
How Does Schoola Work?
Schoola is easy – both to shop and to donate. We all have clothes to give out of our children’s closets, so the donation part is really easy. Schoola accepts babies, kids, juniors and women’s clothing. They do need to be in great condition, with little to no fading, pilling, holes, or stains (more info here). Simply order a postage-paid bag, fill it up and send it in. Schoola will sort, sell & distribute your clothing AND give you 40% of the sales back to the school of your choice. And you had to do very little!
Schoola will also help you organize a school-wide clothing drive by providing bags and materials to get the process going. What a GREAT way to earn money for your school.
And if you want to shop online at Schoola, well I hardly need to explain to you how to do that. Just know that your purchases of gently worn, brand-named clothing is helping fund projects & activities schools across the nation. Doesn’t that feel good?

And while my basketball days are over, I look back on them with fond memories. And I am loving watching my children participate in their passions, especially knowing how it’s developing their confidence and character. It make me even more motivated to fill a Schoola bag to ensure other children have those opportunities as well.
