The Thinkery is hosting Sensory Day on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This event is especially for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or other sensory disorders to explore the museum with their families.
A typical visit to the Thinkery can be challenging for those who feel overwhelmed by large crowds and excessive stimuli. In acknowledgement of this, Thinkery galleries will be modified to reduce extra stimuli and ticket sales will be limited to reduce crowding. The museum is currently developing additional resources for families to utilize in advance of their visit, which will be available soon at thinkeryaustin.org.
The Thinkery typically serves children ages 0-11 years old, but children of all ages are welcome to this special event. The Thinkery provides a variety of experiences for all interests and abilities, so visitors are recommended to bring along the whole family, including siblings, if possible. Therapists are also welcome to attend free of charge.
Ticket prices are $5 for Members, $8 for the general public, and children 23 months and younger are free. Tickets can be purchased at shop.thinkeryaustin.org.
Our family LOVES the Thinkery and were thrilled to hear that they want to make this very-hand-on museum accessible to all children with all abilities. Way to go Thinkery!
