Spend the Day Outdoors in Austin, Texas

Spread the love

Are you looking to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather?
Here are some outstanding ideas to get you & your family outdoors in Austin!

1. Spend the day…yes the entire day…at the Zilker Metropolitan Park – Recently named a “Lone Star Legacy”, this is a wonderful park with activities for every age group.  Play on the Playscape, hike the many trials, take a dip in the 68-degrees Barton Springs Pool, go kayaking & canoeing on Town Lake, and ride the miniature train, the Zilker Zepher.  Pack a picnic and enjoy this beautiful park!

2. Be inspired by the color at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center – There is tons of fun for the family at the Little House and Butterfly Garden, but the biggest attraction right now in the spring will be the blooming wildflowers!  What a site to see!

3. There are tons of great trails around Austin, but none have a view at the top like Mt. Bonnell – The rewarding hike offers a fantastic vantage point for views of Lake Austin, Austin, and the surrounding hills.  It’s even a registered Historic Landmark!

4. If your looking for a longer hike, check out the falls at the McKinney Falls State Park – take a gorgeous hike around both falls or even venture out and camp overnight!

5. Try your hand at Geocaching – this is modern-day treasure hunting at it’s best!  Check out a Geocaching series I did a few months back to get you started.
