Last night, the newest Star Wars trailer debuted during the halftime of Monday Night Football on ESPN. We have since watched it more than a dozen times and it has done what any good movie trailer was meant to do……leave us with so many questions!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Disney and LucasFilms always gives me the best birthday present. For the last 3 years, they have released a new Star Wars film on or very close to my birthday. It has now become tradition in our house to see a Star Wars movie for Mom’s birthday. And that’s just fine with me. I love that every single one of us loves the Star Wars franchise.
And so last night, at 9:00 PM, we were all huddled around Monday Night Football waiting rather impatiently for halftime to begin so we could see the newest Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer. And it did not disappoint!
We have watched it several times and every time caught something new – something that makes us question the movie – something that makes us realize that December 15 could not get her soon enough. And yes, we have bought our tickets already!

Who is Snoke talking about? Ren or Rey?
The trailer starts with Snoke’s “When I found you, I saw raw, untamed power. And beyond that… something truly special.” And then cuts to both Kylo Ren picking up his lightsaber and Rey training on Luke’s Island with her’s, leading us to believe it could be either…….
We want to believe that Rey is the one with the power. Doesn’t Luke confirm it with his follow up “I’ve seen this raw strength only once before, It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”?
Will Rey turn to the Dark Side?
And at the end of the trailer, we hear Rey say “I need someone to show me my place in all this.” after which Ren holds his hand out. Is she speaking to him? Or Luke?
Our family wants to believe she is talking to Luke and that is just a clever edit to mislead us. Silly trailer.
Why is Finn in a First Order uniform?
It took us a few views to catch the shot of Finn in a First Order uniform and then later fighting with Captain Phasma. It’s gonna be a goooooooddddd scene!
Like in other episodes, we are hoping Finn is dressing the part to get on a First Order ship??
Will Kylo Ren Kill his mother, General Leia?
First of all, it’s so hard to write out General Leia. Secondly, it’s so hard to see her on screen and know that Carrie Fisher is gone. 🙁
That said, in the trailer, we see Ren flying in his TIE and saying, “Let the past die, Kill it. If you have to.” All while locking in his weapons on a ship we are led to presume that General Leia AKA his MOTHER is on. Will he kill her like he did his father?
I want to think Ren would not kill his mother, but I sat thru the end of The Force Awakens in disbelief that he killed his father. So nothing wold surprise me. But I would hate for that ending to General Leia.
Is Kylo Ren turning good?
We also see the scene where Ren is holding his helmet in contemplation, as if he wants to destroy it. Could he ave a conscious after all?
Our guess is no. Again, all great movie trailer suspense here, making us think he could be going to the good side.
