Tomorrowland Sneak Peek at Disneyland

May 15, 2015 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love

Available to see for just a short time, Disneyland is offering guests a Sneak Peek at Disney Pictures Tomorrowland.  It’s just enough to wet your appetite for the movie, leaving you even more curious about seeing it when it comes to theaters on Friday, May 22, 2015.  And after the sneak peek, guests can take a look at props from the film as well.

Last week, we had the opportunity to visit Disneyland in Anaheim, CA as part of the Tomorrowland Press Junket.  The movie weaves in several key features of the area of the park that is Tomorrowland, as well as the popular ride, “it’s a small world”, so it was great fun to experience them in person right after reviewing the film.

To be honest, Tomorowland has always been my favorite land in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.  I just love the “Jetson’s” look to it – that 1960’s view of what the “future” was going to be like.  And when you see the film, you will see how the architecture, the rides, and the overall concept was great inspiration for Tomorrowland writers & producers Damon Lindelof & Brad Bird.

Tomorrowland Sneak Peek

Tomorrowland Sneak Peek at Disneyland

Guests to Disneyland have a rare opportunity to experience a sneak peek of the film in the Tomorrowland Theater, site of the former Captain EO show.  The extended movie clip includes several lights and special effects built into the theater to make it a really neat experience.  Not to mention it totally leaves you wanting MORE.  Possibly what they intended……

While waiting to go into the Tomorrowland Theater to see the sneak peek, guests can look through a few story boards from the development of the movie.  Even if you haven’t seen the movie year, it’s a great opportunity to check out how the producers of the film came up with so many concepts, and how they tie back into so many elements of Disneyland.

Tomorrowland Movie Props & Memorabilia

After the sneak peek, guests are invited to see several props and memorabilia from the movie in Starcade, right next to the Tomorrowland Theatre. See the jetpack that young Frank Walker invents, Casey’s hat that she wears throughout the movie and the gun that George Clooney says he may have at home.  It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the movie, how it was developed and see movie props in this exclusive experience.

1952 Box - Inspiration for the movie Tomorrowland - Props at Disneyland

The 1952 Box

In 2008, this box, cryptically marked “1952” was discovered in the Disney Archives. The contents of this box were the inspiration for Tomorrowland.  Hear more about the discovery of the box and creation of the movie from Screenwriter/Producer Damon Lindelof and Director/Producer Brad Bird from my exclusive interviews with them next week.

Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration

Disneyland celebrates their both Anniversary this summer and they are kicking off their “Diamond Celebration” with the debut of 3 new nighttime shows.  Their signature “Kiss goodnight”, Disney is known for spectacular goodbyes.  Special effects & over 1.5 million LED lights help “Paint the Night” come to life in this updated Electrical Light Parade.  The “Disneyland Forever” fireworks show will include projection mapping all over the park, immersing guests into classic Disney tales, and allowing a defect perspective of the show to be seen form different vantage points in the park.  And lastly, Disney California Adventure “World of Color-Celebrate!” welcomes host Neil Patrick Harris to the new version of this amazing water & lights show.

Disneyland also has updated a few fun rides for the celebration – Matterhorn, Haunted Mansion, & Peter Pan – as well as offered new entertainment, food, & merchandise.  The fun begins at the 24-hour celebration, kicking off on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Tomorrowland in Theaters May 22, 2015

And if you can’t get to the sneak peek at Disneyland, Tomorrowland comes out in theaters on Friday, May 22, 2015.  Make sure to take the whole family.

Want to hear more about Tomorrowland??

Here’s why I think you should take the whole family to see the movie! Find out what prop George Clooney may or may not have taken from the set of Tomorrowland in my exclusive interview with him.  Also, find out what valuable lesson his costar, Britt Robertson learned from Clooney. And find out what inspired Director/Producer Brad Bird and Screenwriter/Producer Damon Lindelof to create Tomorrowland in my exclusive interview with them.

We visited the Walt Disney Archives to learn how Tomorrowland producers used items from the archives to recreate key scenes in the movie.  Then we headed over to Disneyland’s Tomorrowland- here’s 13 Fun Facts You Don’t Know about Tomorrowland.   And check out all the fun that Disneyland has planned for it’s 60th Anniversary, starting May 22, 2015.

Wasn’t the jetpack just the coolest thing EVER?! I love the vintage-ness of it (is that a word?!). Just like a kid with an incredible imagination, to use old Electrolux vacuum parts to create a jetpack!
