Yes! You Can Take a Toddler to Schlitterbahn!

Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels – BIG waterpark, but is it a place you’d want to take your little ones???

Schlitterbahn has four separate parks to play in – The Original, Surfenburg, Blastenoff, & Tubenbach – and all of them have amazing toddler water play areas.

We started out in the Original Park.  Shaded with lots of trees, most of the toddler areas stay out of the sun for the better part of the day.

The Original Park has fun water play areas with oversized animals to crawl and slide down.

Also, Schatze’s Central Park is located here.  This is a cute area set up with several slides, water jets, and play areas.  The water level is very low here, so this is a great place to cool off and play with beginning walkers.

It was also a perfect place to “break” my 3 year old in, as this was his first trip to a water park.  He played in this area for a while before we ventured to the bigger slides with water.

Another great play area for toddlers is at Surfenburg – The pirate ship & submarine was a favorite with my guy – lots of tunnels, slides, and fun water contraptions that kept my toddler amused for hours. The water is a bit deeper in this area, so you would want to grab a life jacket (provided by Schlitterbahn) if your little ones are not steady in water.

Schlitterbahn has child-size tubes with bottoms so that you can take little ones on some of the tame water rides – the Hillside Chutes was a favorite of his, as you drift along encountering a slide every once and a while. He screamed his way down some of the chutes (they were tame) and giggle as he was at the bottom.

Towards the afternoon, we were able to “graduate” my little one to this fun water play area. This playhouse has rope ladders, tunnels, and climbing areas that have water spraying in every which way.  The back side of the playhouse has fun, but gentle, water slides to go down.  And beware of the tipping ship at the top…..it just might get you soaked if you time it just right!
